The picture Isaiah paints in 35:6b-7a is one that is most
needed, where least expected.
Isaiah 35:6-7GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
6 Then those who are lame will leap like deer,
and those who cannot speak will shout for joy.
Water will gush out into the desert,
and streams will gush out into the wilderness.
7 Then the hot sand will become a pool,
and dry ground will have springs.
Grass will become cattails and rushes
in the home of jackals.
and those who cannot speak will shout for joy.
Water will gush out into the desert,
and streams will gush out into the wilderness.
7 Then the hot sand will become a pool,
and dry ground will have springs.
Grass will become cattails and rushes
in the home of jackals.
Streams in the desert, pools in place
of burning sands, bubbling springs where once was only burning ground…
So too our God; He is where most needed and least expected…a
source of true companionship in the wilderness that is aching loneliness.
An oasis of Grace
in the dry ground that is a soul riddled with guilt. The spring of Hope in the desert despair, the spring of Truth in the desert of
doubt, the spring of Healing
in the desert that is deteriorating bodies or relationships; our God is there, where least expected
and most needed.
A splash of water, a sip of wine, a Scripture read or pulled
from memory, the sharing of time in the company of those who are in His
"company", there He Shall be...where most needed, though least
expected.
