In the 25th chapter of Matthew, Jesus describes the life God secures and grants His children and the life His children live in, for and through Him.
Our SoulSing series GOTT LIFE (Gott is German for God) is going through this chapter of Matthew and our life from and for God. Yesterday we were reminded that those who are alive in Christ are granted ability and opportunity, bear responsibility and must give accountability.
Each and every one of us has ability. God has formed, fashioned and made us, “we are His.” There is not one of us who has not been given ability to serve our God. In the “Parable of the Talents”, Jesus shows that while not all are given the same ability all are blessed with ability. Ability is followed by opportunity in the parable, and in “gott life.” Through our daily vocations as well as “special” occasions we are given opportunity to serve God by serving others and using our abilities!
For those who got “gott life,” service is not optional. We bear the responsibility to use our gifts. In fact, this is not only part of who we are as new creations in Christ; this is a part of God’s created order. Reward only comes before work in the dictionary. In God’s created order we are called to serve, strive and seek to put to use the gifts which He has blessed us with for His benefit, for the benefit of others and the benefit of ourselves.
Of course, by Grace for the sake of the One who “served and gave His life as a ransom for many” we will one day be welcomed into eternity with the words, “well done thou good and faithful servant.” Until that day may we live in such a way as to give a good accounting of our “gott life.”
