Sermon: “LOVED: Being Loved”
Text: 1
John 3:1-7
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called the children of God!”
- 1 John 3:1
You’ve heard it said, “That
there is nothing you could possibly do to move God to love you even more; and
there is nothing you have ever done that could cause Him to love you any less.”
In other words, God loves us fully, completely, purely and perfectly and has
proven it in His Son.
There is a corollary reality to this famous
saying.
This truth is that there is no one in the world that
God loves more than He loves you; nor is there anyone in the world whom God
loves less than He loves you. He loves each and every - equally
fully. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be
called the children of God!”
Of course, generally speaking a sentence that begins
with the word “how” will end with a question mark. Notice that in this
case the sentence ends with an exclamation point. No question about it,
God has proven and proclaimed that He loves us; that He loves you! Thus
when the questions of life daunt and haunt, we need only pull out this
exclamation and hear loud and clear this truth: “How great is the love the Father
has lavished on us that we should be called the children of God!”
That is what we are!
