Sermon: “Christ Alone!”

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:2

Christ Alone (Solus Christus) is the ultimate summary of all the Reformation Solas. 

Christ Alone is the source of our faith and life; The Word of He who is the Word Incarnate proclaims what God’s children will believe and how God’s children ought to behave.  In other words saying, “Christ Alone” is the same as saying Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura).

Christ Alone is the means of our salvation; through His perfect life and innocent suffering and death, and only through Him, are we atoned for, redeemed, set free and saved.  In other words saying, “Christ Alone” is the same as saying Grace Alone (Sola Gratia).

Christ Alone is that which we trust in and cling to; not our own efforts or merits, not our church membership nor worship attendance, Jesus and Jesus alone is what we trust in.  In other words saying, “Christ Alone” is the same as saying Faith Alone (Sola Fide).
