“Follow the Leader…Lead the Followers”

Text: 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Red adorns the altar, lectern, clergy and even some worshippers on Reformation Sunday.  Red is the same color that drapes the church on Pentecost. 

This is no accident!  For the Spirit whom gave birth to the church, we are convinced, directed the Reformation movement as well and thus the church was restored to the truth upon which it was birthed: that God out of pure grace on account of the work of Christ, through faith in that same Christ, redeems lost sinners like us apart from works; even as they themselves Scriptures declare. 

Hence the Reformer's cries of Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone, Christ Alone and To God Alone Belongs the Glory are ultimately the workings of the Spirit. 

The 499th anniversary of the Reformation is observed Sunday, October 30th.
