Bethany Bullet - August 31, 2010

In the Book of 1 Samuel - God, through His prophet, declares on more than one occasion that He desires a man after His own heart to be king.

Throughout our Parish Theme this year, A Heart like His, we will explore the characteristics of God’s heart that He desires His people to share.

If you ever thought that God’s love for you would be deeper if your thoughts were deeper – you’re wrong. If you ever believed that His love for you would be stronger if your faith in Him were stronger - you would be wrong again.

God loves you as you are!
• Your sin cannot diminish His love.
• Your good works and obedient behavior cannot increase His love.
• His love is not based on our actions, or our opinions, or on our confessions.

In fact “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should have eternal life.” - John 3:16

Think about that for a moment…
This world or more pointedly its inhabitants that are fallen, profane, vile, and corrupt are so loved by God that He gave His Son for all! Can’t be more loved than that can you?! God loves us as we are and yet He would give us hearts like His.

Throughout this year we will discover the heart of God, we will be drawn closer to it, and have Him change ours so that we might have a heart like His.
